Andy Baker

president

Andy started his racing career in the late 1980s across cyclocross, track, and road disciplines, earning six national masters track championships and multiple state championships along the way. He brings both deep experience and an approachable leadership style to the team. Known for his enthusiasm and willingness to compete in any discipline, he embodies the competitive spirit that defines Liquid Velo. Andy also likes goofy helmets and not taking himself too seriously.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Dylan Katz

Vice PResident

Dylan joined Liquid Velo in 2024. He enjoys riding anything with steep uphills, rocky downhills, or long dusty roads. A strong advocate for taking only silly things seriously, he's found a home in cyclocross and gravel. Dylan also makes occasional appearances in other disciplines, and will jump at any opportunity to spend time in nature with friends, teammates, and the broader cycling community.

Kris started bike racing while pursuing graduate school in the Chicago area. She immediately fell in love with cyclocross and community. She now focuses on track and mtb racing but you might just see her out at a cyclocross race or criterium one of these days.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Greg Talpey

Greg races for the Expeditors Cycling Team, in addition to serving as the Liquid Velo treasurer. He works as a research engineer at the University of Washington in a lab that studies marine renewable energy. An aerobic junkie, he also likes to run and ski.

Andrew started racing in 2011 and quickly fell in love with cyclocross, though you can also find him putting in laps at Seward Park on Thursday nights, or out adventuring and racing on gravel roads, or ripping trails on a mountain bike. He's grateful for the relationships and community that cycling has brought, and is always happy to share a post-ride coffee or beer.

 
 
 
 
 
 

Tyler Free

After playing college soccer, Tyler needed another form of competition and found cycling in 2017. He got dropped on the first lap of his first race (Seward Park) and has been hooked on racing since. He joined Liquid Velo in 2018 and became a board member in 2022. 


Tyler works as a family practice Nurse Practitioner and when he’s not cycling, he enjoys camping and surfing and spending time with his family.

 
 
 
 

John Bowie

John started racing late 2016 into 2017 in Chicago. After moving to the PNW in 2018 joining Liquid Velo he stepped up to a cat 1 racing on the road and track. John now races with the Expeditors Cycling Team on the road with a focus on crit racing.

You can find him with his wife Kris on the weekends at Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome in Marymoor park most summer Friday nights.
